Preheating

Uncommon in Quebec, infrared preheating is a process that allows work to continue in cold weather, thereby extending the operating season. The use of preheating units can also allow work to begin earlier in the spring. During these periods of the year, an essential step before paving on a structure is deck preheating, which allows for the installation of a waterproofing membrane. This process is made possible by propane-powered infrared preheating units. It was the acquisition of this equipment in the fall of 2018 that allowed HDF constructions to secure a prominent place among the many contractors involved in the country’s largest construction project, the New Champlain Bridge project in Montreal. Since then, a second unit has been acquired, further strengthening our capacity to meet the demands of large-scale projects and to extend the construction season.
